Academic Expectations Homework
Types of homework usually range from assignments started in class to be completed at home, assignments assigned to be completed outside of the classroom environment, or even long term assignments with extended times for completion. Time spent on homework can vary and is affected by many variables that may include a student’s individual ability, confidence, attention, interest, and motivation. On average your child should be having at least 30 minutes of homework each night. Students committed in other programs should expect additional time.
Grace periods for absences of illness and/or family emergency: Students will receive two days for each day of absence to complete missed work. If a student missed more than 5 consecutive days of absence, teacher and student will determine essential assignments and agree upon due dates. In the event of a one day absence for which the assignments was assigned more than 5 days in advance, the original due date will be maintained.
Late Work: Students who turn in late assignments face a penalty. Students must turn assignment in on time to receive full credit. A grade reduction will be assigned for a late assignment.
Planned absences: Absences for one day will follow the two day grace period. If work is available before an absence, it is due upon return. If work in not available when requested, student will get two days for each day absent to complete the assignment.
